A first-grade teacher, Ms. Brooks, was having trouble with one of her students. The teacher asked, "Harry, what's your problem?"

Harry answered, "I'm too smart for the 1st grade. My sister is in the 3rd grade & I'm smarter than she is! I think I should be in the 3rd grade too!"

Ms. Brooks had had enough. She took Harry to the principal's office.

While Harry waited in the outer office, the teacher explained to the principal what the situation was. The principal told Ms. Brooks he would give the boy a test. If he failed to answer any of his questions he was to go back to the 1st grade & behave. She agreed.

Harry was brought in & the conditions were explained to him & he agreed to take the test.

Principal: "What is 3 x 3?"

Harry: "9."

Principal: "What is 6 x 6?"

Harry: " 36."

And so it went with every question the principal thought a 3rd grader should know.

The principal looks at Ms. Brooks & tells her, "I think Harry can go to the 3rd grade."

Ms. Brooks says to the principal, "Let me ask him some questions."

The principal & Harry both agreed.

Ms. Brooks asks, "What does a cow have four of that I have only two of?"

Harry, after a moment: "Legs."

Ms. Brooks: "What is in your pants that you have but I do not have?"

The principal wondered why would she ask such a question!

Harry replied: "Pockets."

Ms. Brooks: "What does a dog do that a man steps into?"

Harry: "Pants."

Ms. Brooks: What starts with a C, ends with a T, is hairy, oval, delicious & contains thin, whitish liquid?"

Harry: "Coconut."

The principal sat forward with his mouth hanging open.

Ms. Brooks: "What goes in hard & pink then comes out soft & sticky?"

The principal's eyes opened really wide & before he could stop the answer, Harry replied, "Bubble gum."

Ms. Brooks: "What does a man do standing up, a woman does sitting down & a dog does on three legs?"

Harry: "Shake hands."

The principal was trembling.

Ms. Brooks: "What word starts with an 'F' & ends in 'K' that means a lot of heat & excitement?"

Harry: "Firetruck."

The principal breathed a sigh of relief & told the teacher, "Put Harry in the fifth-grade, I got the last seven questions wrong......

There once was a little boy who wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her a Twinkie.

She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Once again she smiled at him. The boy was delighted!

They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was, and he got up to leave; but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face.

She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?"

He replied, "I had lunch with God." But, before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"

Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face; and he asked, "Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?"

She replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." But, before her son responded, she added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring. All of which have the potential to make someone's day a very special one, or even turn someone's life around.

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker’s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, “I know why.”

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, “People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The six-year-old continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

If a dog was your teacher, these are some of the lessons you might learn:

  • When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
  • Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
  • Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
  • When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
  • Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
  • Never pretend to be something you’re not.
  • If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
  • When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

A man and his girlfriend were married. It was a large celebration. All of their friends and family came to see the lovely ceremony. The bride was gorgeous in her white wedding gown and the groom was very dashing in his black suit.
Everyone could tell that the love they had for each other was true.
A few months later, the wife comes to the husband with a proposal:
“I read in a magazine, a while ago, about how we can strengthen our marriage.” she offered. “Each of us will write a list of the things that we find a bit annoying with the other person. Then, we can talk about how we can fix them together and make our lives happier together.”
The husband agreed, so each of them went to a separate room in the house and thought of the things that annoyed them about the other.
They thought about this question for the rest of the day and wrote down what they came up with.

The next morning, at the breakfast table, they decided that they would go over their lists.
“I’ll start,” offered the wife. She took out her list.
It had many items on it enough to fill 3 pages, in fact. As she started reading the list of the little annoyances, she noticed that tears were starting to appear in her husband’s eyes.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Nothing” the husband replied, “keep reading your lists.” The wife continued to read until she had read all three pages to her husband. She neatly placed her list on the table and folded her hands over top of it.

“Now, you read your list and then we’ll talk about the things on both of our lists.” She said happily.
Quietly the husband stated,
“I don’t have anything on my list. I think that you are perfect the way that you are. I don’t want you to change anything for me. You are lovely and wonderful and I wouldn’t want to try and change anything about you.”

The wife, touched by his honesty and the depth of his love for her and his acceptance of her, turned her head and wept.

Always Remember:
Nobody’s PERFECT but we can find PERFECTNESS in them to change the way we see them.

What eye(s) are you? It's just for fun and I wanna see your answers! It's fun seeing who everyone is drawn to!

If you are drawn to 1, Deep Down You Are Open. You're the type of person who will welcome almost anyone into your life and heart. You believe that it's better to take a risk and get hurt than to close yourself off to the world. You don't show the world your fears or insecurities. You believe that your problems should be dealt with privately. You try to be totally there for everyone, even if you're hurting inside. Helping others is how you heal. (This was me)

If you chose eye 2, Deep down you are Conscientious. You're the type of person who's always looking to make a good impression and do the right thing. You believe your actions make a difference in other people's lives, no matter how large or small they are. You don't show the world how worried and upset you are. You see a lot of misery and injustice that you keep to yourself. You are devoted to being the best person possible. It's the least you can do with your time on this planet.

If you chose eye 3, Deep Down you are tortured. You're the type of person who has a very tumultuous past that still affects you today. You can't help but think that life is some sort of sick cosmic joke. You try to find your peace wherever you can. You don't show the world your darkest thoughts. You have a lot to endure, and your keeping it to yourself. Your outlook can be surprisingly sunny at times. You're an expert at picking yourself up when you fall.

If you chose eye 4, Deep Down you are philosophical. You're the type of person who's likely to over think everything and anything. You like to get to the deeper meaning of things. You get so lost in your thoughts that it's sometimes hard to tell up from down. You don't show the world how unsure you are about everything. You may be figuring things out, but you're still confident. You see life as a puzzle, and you like playing with the pieces until they fit together. You may not ever figure out the meaning of it all, and you're okay with that.

If you chose eye 5, Deep down you are mysterious. You're the type of person who hasn't figured yourself out, so good luck to anyone else who plans to try! You are a mash up of many contradictions, and your mood changes daily. Once find yourself, you've changed into someone else. You don't show the world much about yourself. You are a person of few words and confusing actions. You prefer to observe and learn about people before you chime in. You only say things that you are sure of.

If you chose eye 6, Deep down you are sensitive. You're the type of person who notices everything and forgets nothing. You are very in tune with the world. You feel deeply, and sometimes the silliest things can affect you. You are easily brought to laughter or tears. You don't show the world how fragile you are. You instead show people how insightful you can be. You are good at anticipating what's going to happen in your life. You are often the first one to see what's coming.

If you chose Eye 7, Deep down you are fiery. You're the type of person who's always energetic or passionate. There's nothing subtle about you... ever. You tend to love or hate everything. You have a ton of opinions, and you make up your mind quickly. You don't show the world how anxious you are. You have a lot of energy, and too much of it means you can be quite nervous. Everything is very high stakes for you. You can't help but build up the drama in your head.

If you chose Eye 8, Deep down you are eccentric. You're the type of person who has unusual interests, beliefs, and practices. You've always been a bit of a weirdo. You don't care much for rules or tradition. You do things your way and let the chips fall where they may. You show the world everything about you. You have nothing to hide, and you just laugh off those who judge you. You wish everyone was more like you. There's a lot of joy in being a non-conformist.

If you chose eye 9, Deep Down you are Intuitive. You're the type of person who understands other people and the world very well. You don't let on to how much you know. You can tell so much from someone's facial expressions or tone of voice. And you always know when you're being lied to. You show the world exactly what you want to show. Besides being good at reading people, you also know how you're being read. You know when you're being manipulated, and you know how to manipulate someone if you have to. You usually don't resort to it though!

Two traveling Angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guest room.

Instead the Angels were given a space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older Angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it.

When the younger Angel asked why, the older Angel replied..."Things aren't always what they seem."

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had, the couple let the Angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest.

When the sun came up the next morning, the Angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field.

The younger Angel was infuriated and asked the older Angel, "How could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him" he accused. "The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let their cow die."

"Things aren't always what they seem," the older Angel replied. "When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it.

"Then last night, as we slept in the farmers bed, the Angel of Death came for his wife. I gave her the cow instead."

The morale of the story is things may not be what they seem. Your first impression may be wrong.
Sometimes this is exactly what happens when things don't turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every outcome is always to your advantage. You might not know it until some time later

According to a study that was published in Discovery Magazine, men whose ring finger is longer than their index fingers are much more attractive for females. The initial statement is that that the length of the finger depends on the amount of testosterone that has been slammed onto them while still in their mothers’ wombs.

However, the study showed that female felt attracted to these men’s facial features and not voice or smell, meaning that it is more likely that the testosterone that is currently in the male’s body and not the one that he’s been stuffed with in a prenatal state is the actual women-attractor.

A crow lived in the forest and was absolutely satisfied in life. But one day he saw a swan. “This swan is so white,” he thought, “and I am so black. This swan must be the happiest bird in the world.”
He expressed his thoughts to the swan. “Actually,” the swan replied, “I was feeling that I was the happiest bird around until I saw a parrot, which has two colors. I now think the parrot is the happiest bird in creation.” The crow then approached the parrot. The parrot explained, “I lived a very happy life until I saw a peacock. I have only two colors, but the peacock has multiple colors.”

The crow then visited a peacock in the zoo and saw that hundreds of people had gathered to see him. After the people had left, the crow approached the peacock. “Dear peacock,” the crow said, “you are so beautiful. Every day thousands of people come to see you. When people see me, they immediately shoo me away. I think you are the happiest bird on the planet.”

The peacock replied, “I always thought that I was the most beautiful and happy bird on the planet. But because of my beauty, I am entrapped in this zoo. I have examined the zoo very carefully, and I have realized that the crow is the only bird not kept in a cage. So for past few days I have been thinking that if I were a crow, I could happily roam everywhere.”

Moral:
That’s our problem too. We make unnecessary comparison with others and become sad. We don’t value what God has given us. This all leads to the vicious cycle of unhappiness. Learn to be happy in what you have instead of looking at what you don’t have. There will always be someone who will have more or less than you have. Person who is satisfied with what he/she has, is the happiest person in the world.

What does your nail shape tells about you? Personality Test
Personality Test

1. Vertically long: You’re a mild-tempered romanticist
It is likely that your right brain is more well-developed, and you’re the highly imaginative type. You are meticulous and creative, but you tend to get overwhelmed by the surrounding atmosphere and might easily be deceived, so you might want to be a little more cautious and alert. When it comes to dealing with the logical left-brained type, you might find it difficult to understand each other and may even end up in conflict.

2. Broad-side

You’re a short-tempered theorist
It is likely that your left brain is more well-developed, and you’re the highly eloquent type. You clearly verbalize what your think, and that gives people an impression that you’re straightforward and clear-cut. However, you tend to be impatient and short-tempered, so it might be a good idea to practice a little self-restraint at times. You can’t really come to terms with the emotional right-brained types who listen to their hearts more than their heads.

3,4. Round-egg (Both)

Rounded or egg-shaped: You’re a laid-back pacifist
You’re the happy-go-lucky type who does things at your own pace. You’re very sociable, and whenever the people around you get into an argument, you’re always the first one to step in as a mediator. Your bright personality is well-liked by many, but you might give others an impression that you’re an easy person, so keep yourself in check so that your friends won’t lose their trust in you. In comparison to other types, you get along relatively well with all types.

5. Square

Squarish: You’re serious and hard-headed
You’re the one with perseverance and guts; many men happen to fall under this type. Your serious attitude is a good thing, but your hard-headedness and inflexibility is like a flaw on a precious stone. If you could try to be less stubborn and think with more flexibility, things might work out more smoothly for you.

6,7. Triangle (Both triangle inverted included)

Triangular or inverted triangle: You’re the sensitive genius
You’re the provider of brand new ideas, and the one who always notices the minute details in things that others miss. People of the inverted triangle type can be a little pushy, while upright triangle types tend to be overly sensitive and can’t tolerate indiscreet people around them. They are likely to feel annoyed at people who are too comfortable with doing things at their own pace.

8. Almond

Almond-shaped: You’re faithful and honest
You have a vivid imagination and you’re kind and always sincere with people. You are very courteous and polite, but have low-tolerance, and tend to become short-tempered when it comes to things that you can’t accept. When you feel like you’re about to snap, it might do you some good to step aside for a moment and cool your head to get back on track.

9. Sword

Sword-shaped: You’re the ambitious idealist
You’re the type who wouldn’t hesitate to work hard to achieve your goals. As long as it’s something that will help you advance towards your ideals, you’ll do it, even if it’s something you dislike. However, you’re lacking in the cooperation department. You are also likely to feel impatient when dealing with people who are too relaxed and don’t keep up with you. It would probably be beneficial to pick up the ability to work with others.

Short Story, Motivational story - Let go of your Stresses!
A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: ”How heavy is this glass of water?”

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.”

She continued, “The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.”

It’s important to remember to let go of your stresses. As early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don’t carry them through the evening and into the night. Remember to put the glass down!

All about a WOMAN ....
* When she is quiet, millions of things are running in her mind.
* When she stares at you, she is wondering why she loves you so much in spite of being taken for granted.
* When she says I will stand by you, she will stand by you like a rock.
Never hurt her or take her wrong or for granted...

Forward to every woman to make her smile and to every man to make him realize a woman's worth...!!!

When I was in elementary school, I got into a major argument with a boy in my class. I have forgotten what the argument was about, but I have never forgotten the lesson I learned that day.

I was convinced that “I” was right and “he” was wrong – and he was just as convinced that “I” was wrong and “he” was right. The teacher decided to teach us a very important lesson.

She brought us up to the front of the class and placed him on one side of her desk and me on the other. In the middle of her desk was a large, round object. I could clearly see that it was black. She asked the boy what color the object was. “White,” he answered.

I couldn’t believe he said the object was white, when it was obviously black! Another argument started between my classmate and me, this time about the color of the object.

The teacher told me to go stand where the boy was standing and told him to come stand where I had been. We changed places, and now she asked me what the color of the object was. I had to answer, “White.”

It was an object with two differently colored sides, and from his viewpoint it was white. Only from my side it was black.

Sometimes we need to look at the problem from the other person’s view in order to truly understand his/her perspective.

Pick A Crystal
Look at the 6 crystals below, which are you drawn to? Don’t choose your favorite color, choose the one you are most attracted to at this moment.

Pick A Crystal and see what it reveals

Below is the explanation of your choice – but don’t cheat, just pick the one you’re drawn to.

No.1 Opalite
You seek freedom, somewhere peaceful to calm your senses and hear your inner voice. Have you been feeling stressed and disconnected? Do you feel unsure of your path ahead and crave time alone to think? As this cloudy stone suggests, your vision is obscured by the hum drum of daily life and some alone time is called for. It’s not necessarily that anything is ‘wrong’ with your life, but perhaps you feel it is running you rather than the other way around. As we approach the dawn of a new year, find time (if just for an afternoon) to assess things. You may discover when you think about your goals, you are in fact moving successfully towards them. When we spend quiet moments in contemplation the vibration of our body changes. It allows inspirational thoughts to pop into our head out the blue (this stone is associated with angel communication). Deep down you sense a connection with the ‘other side’, and they are waiting to talk to you and give you guidance.

No.2 Green Malachite
If you are attracted to this stone, you are (or are about) to go through a major life transformation. This transformation may be practical, changing the way you live and work, but it also goes much deeper. It is about spiritual evolution, energy blockages in your mind and body from past experiences being untangled and released. You are becoming wiser and in the process learning to truly value yourself. You may find the process unsettling, initially you become more aware of what you don’t want, rather than what you do. That’s fine. First we must acknowledge the need for change, only then can we start to look for alternatives. Malachite is the stone of prosperity and abundance, when you start to look up, luck and fortune are waiting. It can signify the end of destructive romantic relationships and the dawn of pure love. By picking this stone you are unconsciously telling the Universe, ‘I am ready for success. I am ready to lose the negativity. I am ready to be passionate about my life’.

No. 3 Sun Stone
If you are attracted to this stone, you are beginning to feel more optimistic about the future. The power of the sun is energizing your body, enhancing your health and lifting fears and stress. The sun stone is an omen of good luck and signifies events taking a turn for the better. Imagine waking in the morning and your first emotion is JOY. Pure Joy because you have breath in your body and people in your life who love you. Once joy exists at this basic level, you attract more of the same. You are being given strength to overcome problems. Watch as magical alternatives appear. If you’ve been silently praying for a miracle, this is it. It is time for your day in the sun.

No. 4 Mahogany Obsidian
This is the stone of closure. If you chose it your unconscious is saying ‘I am ready to break out of negative habits and become happy’. You are becoming grounded. Like a sudden revelation you can finally see that others are not more fortunate or more lucky than you. They have their problems too, although they choose not to show them. You ARE what you feel. Jealously, bitterness, feeling of being cheated by life, these emotions poison our system and lead to a downward spiral of misery. We only hurt ourselves. Fortunately, energy blocks in your system are disappearing speedily. At last you find the willpower to break free of negativity (and perhaps negative situations or people) and embrace peace. As 2014 begins expect to feel expectantly happy in your skin. The breakthrough is realizing that the only path to long-lasting happiness is appreciating what you have, rather than what you don’t have.

No 5: Howlite
If you are attracted to this stone you have been receiving messages from the ‘other side’, either in the form of dreams, thoughts out of the blue, visions or seeing repetitive numbers or words. You are being intuitively guided in a certain direction – acknowledge your intuition and listen to it. It knows without thinking – it is your short-cut to success. If you’ve had trouble sleeping it may be you are ignoring a gut feeling about someone or some situation. By acknowledging and going with the flow, spiritual breakthroughs will occur. You are not alone, you are never alone in this journey. The Howlite crystal is a message from the world of spirit that a new spirit guide awaits you. Your guide plans to elevate you to levels beyond your wildest dreams. All they ask is that you believe in them, and take their hand.
Additional: Howlite denotes luck to those hoping for a baby, or who are already pregnant. It is an omen of a healthy, strong baby.

No.6: Dalmatian Jasper
Time to bring fun and humor back into your life! If you chose this crystal, the little voice within is screaming ‘lets play again’. Perhaps you have been feeling down, disillusioned, worried or a little cynical. The Dalmatian Jasper reminds us that we are spiritual souls having a physical experience. We only have so many years on this planet before returning to energy form, so let’s enjoy it!!. Even the worst of situations can be brightened by humor – if not for your own sake, then for those around you. Sense of humor binds families and friends. It helps us cope with difficulties at the very instant we are laughing. It sends a message to the world, and the Universe, that I will not be fazed and I will win the day.
Additional: Dalmatian jasper is an anti-smoking crystal – for those with a niggling thought to give up cigarettes, consider this a cosmic order to do so!

Many years ago, Norman Cousins was diagnosed as “terminally ill”. He was given six months to live. His chance for recovery was 1 in 500.

He could see the worry, depression and anger in his life contributed to, and perhaps helped cause, his disease. He wondered, “If illness can be caused by negativity, can wellness be created by positivity?”

He decided to make an experiment of himself. Laughter was one of the most positive activities he knew. He rented all the funny movies he could find – Keaton, Chaplin, Fields, the Marx Brothers. (This was before VCRs, so he had to rent the actual films.) He read funny stories. He asked his friends to call him whenever they said, heard or did something funny.

His pain was so great he could not sleep. Laughing for 10 solid minutes, he found, relieved the pain for several hours so he could sleep.

He fully recovered from his illness and lived another 20 happy, healthy and productive years. (His journey is detailed in his book, Anatomy of an Illness.) He credits visualization, the love of his family and friends, and laughter for his recovery.

Some people think laughter is a waste of time. It is a luxury, they say, a frivolity, something to indulge in only every so often.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Laughter is essential to our equilibrium, to our well-being, to our aliveness. If we’re not well, laughter helps us get well; if we are well, laughter helps us stay that way.

Since Cousins’ ground-breaking subjective work, scientific studies have shown that laughter has a curative effect on the body, the mind and the emotions.

So, if you like laughter, consider it sound medical advice to indulge in it as often as you can. If you don’t like laughter, then take your medicine – laugh anyway.

Use whatever makes you laugh – movies, sitcoms, Monty Python, records, books, New Yorker cartoons, jokes, friends.

Give yourself permission to laugh – long and loud and out loud – whenever anything strikes you as funny. The people around you may think you’re strange, but sooner or later they’ll join in even if they don’t know what you’re laughing about.

Some diseases may be contagious, but none is as contagious as the cure. . . laughter.

Once there was a king who received a gift of two magnificent falcons. They were peregrine falcons, the most beautiful birds he had ever seen. He gave the precious birds to his head falconer to be trained.

Months passed, and one day the head falconer informed the king that though one of the falcons was flying majestically, soaring high in the sky, the other bird had not moved from its branch since the day it had arrived.

The king summoned healers and sorcerers from all the land to tend to the falcon, but no one could make the bird fly.

He presented the task to the member of his court, but the next day, the king saw through the palace window that the bird had still not moved from its perch.

Having tried everything else, the king thought to himself, “May be I need someone more familiar with the countryside to understand the nature of this problem.” So he cried out to his court, “Go and get a farmer.”

In the morning, the king was thrilled to see the falcon soaring high above the palace gardens. He said to his court, “Bring me the doer of this miracle.”

The court quickly located the farmer, who came and stood before the king. The king asked him, “How did you make the falcon fly?”

With his head bowed, the farmer said to the king, “It was very easy, your highness. I simply cut the branch where the bird was sitting.”

We are all made to fly — to realize our incredible potential as human beings. But at times we sit on our branches, clinging to the things that are familiar to us. The possibilities are endless, but for most of us, they remain undiscovered. We conform to the familiar, the comfortable, and the mundane. So for the most part, our lives are mediocre instead of exciting, thrilling and fulfilling. Let us learn to destroy the branch of fear we cling to and free ourselves to the glory of flight!

I thought I would start my speech by addressing you as the “new” family of my daughter. But I think it would be inappropriate because now that she is married, you are “the family” for her. Believe me; I don’t have a problem with that. I, in fact, want my daughter to have “you” as her priority now. Its time for us to take a backseat in her life. We would happily accept it but would surely request one thing- please keep her happy!

I am more than sure that you will keep her very happy. She will perhaps be happier than what she used to be here. But like all fathers, I obsess over my daughter’s happiness which is making me say this over and over again- please keep her happy!

She never was and will never be a burden for me. She is in fact the reason why I breathe and smile. I am getting her married because this is what the law of nature demands. I am helpless in the face of our culture and therefore sending her to your home. She was the happiness of my home and will now light up your home. I am giving my world to you. Please make sure it remains beautiful. I am giving away my princess to you. Please make sure she stays as a queen. I have raised her with my sweat and blood and now she is wonderfully perfect. For all the care, love, beauty and warmth my daughter will bring into your lives, I just want her happiness in return—please keep her happy!

If at times you think that my daughter has said or done something wrong, feel free to scold her. But handle her with love. She is very fragile. If at times she feels low, be with her. She just needs a little bit of your attention. If at times she feels sick, show her some care. It’s the medicine that works best for her. If at times she fails to fulfill a responsibility, feel free to chastise her. But empathize with her. She is still learning. Do understand her—please keep her happy!

I don’t mind if I don’t get to see her for months. I don’t mind if I am not able to talk to her on a daily basis. I would be more than happy if she doesn’t remember me much. But, my only motive in life has been my daughter’s happiness which is now in your hands. I beg you, please keep her happy.

Dear son-in-law, these words may not mean much to you now but if you are lucky enough to father a daughter someday, you will appreciate them better when you will find every beat of your heart shouting – “please keep her happy”!

-- Dedicated to all Fathers

In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said, “Do you know what I just heard about your friend?”

“Hold on a minute”, Socrates replied. “Before telling me anything I’d like you to pass a little test. It’s called the Triple Filter Test.”

“Triple filter?”

“That’s right”, Socrates continued. “Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you’re going to say. That’s why I call it the triple filter test. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?”

“No,” the man said, “Actually I just heard about it and …”

“All right”, said Socrates. “So you don’t really know if it’s true or not. Now let’s try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?”

“No, on the contrary.”

“So”, Socrates continued, “you want to tell me something bad about him, but you’re not certain it’s true. You may still pass the test though, because there’s one filter left: The filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?”

“No, not really.”

“Well”, concluded Socrates, “if what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?”

A man and woman had been married for more than 63 years.

They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.

For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but One day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said it will take time to heal. In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside. She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box.

When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling $95,000. He asked her about the contents.

'When we were to be married,' she said, 'my grandmother told me that the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that If I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.'

The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears.

Only two precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with happiness.

'Honey,' he said, 'that explains the doll, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?' 'Oh,' she said, 'that's the money I made from selling the dolls.'

A Prayer.......
Dear God, I pray for Wisdom to understand my man;
Love to forgive him; And Patience for his moods;
Because God, if I pray for Strength, I'll beat him to death,
Because I don't have time to crochet.
